The European AI Act’s Impact on Financial Markets: From Governance to Co-Regulation

This course examines the regulatory challenges of applying the EU AI Act to the financial sector, where existing sector-specific rules and the structural features of AI-driven services must align with horizontal AI requirements. It highlights regulatory gaps, explores how the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) can address AI-related risks through governance of ICT risks, and assesses the limits of co-regulation tools such as regulatory sandboxes. Finally, it discusses the importance of coordinated supervisory policies and cross-authority collaboration, laying the groundwork for effective financial AI oversight in Europe.
