Responsible AI Governance in Africa: Prospects for Outcomes-Based Regulation

This course explores outcomes-based regulation as a framework for promoting responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance, with a particular focus on its application in Africa. By examining legal and technological perspectives, the course analyzes how regulatory bodies, corporations, and public stakeholders can collaboratively shape adaptive and inclusive AI policies. It highlights the importance of defining clear regulatory goals ("the what") while allowing flexibility in how institutions achieve these outcomes ("the how"). The course also considers global regulatory trends and their relevance to sustainable and equitable AI development across African contexts.
