Embedding digital economy: Fictitious triple movement in the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Act
This course analyzes how the European Union portrays itself as the main protector of citizens from technological risks through the proposed Artificial Intelligence Act. It argues that, despite its focus on fundamental rights, the Act delegates protection to expert bodies rather than empowering citizens, and ultimately serves to strengthen the EU’s political authority more than to advance genuine digital emancipation.
